Cooking up a good story

Heather BrandHeather Brand may not be an expert in the kitchen, but when it comes to writing she’s a master chef. The former journalist and current Berry staff member penned one of 101 short stories accepted for publication in the new book Chicken Soup for the Soul: Food and Love.

Heather’s contribution, “Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone,” recounts her own experience as a new bride attempting, for the first time, to prepare a meal on her own.

“One of the reasons I wrote this story was to share my experience with others who may encounter a similar situation,” explained Heather, faculty secretary for the Campbell School of Business and a graduate student in Berry’s Master of Education program. “I knew I wasn’t the only newlywed in the world who couldn’t cook!”
