Berry Magazine Ever wonder how we learn about the alumni featured in Berry magazine and the Alumni Accent? It’s not complicated. Many times, it’s simply because they sent us a class note. If you haven’t taken the time to share news of your latest personal or career achievement, we’d love to hear from you. How easy is it? Simply copy-and-paste the status update you are probably already typing for Facebook and email it (along with your class year) to alumni@berry.edu. If you’d like to see an example of the type of news your friends and classmates are submitting, check out the Summer 2013 issue of Berry magazine in our online archive.

Never let it be said that Berry alumni aren’t opinionated. In our Alumni Accent poll for February, we asked how you prefer to learn about Berry news, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities and other college initiatives, and an overwhelming 89 percent responded Email. Needless to say, the Accent staff appreciates this strong vote of confidence in e-communication!

To offer your thoughts on this month’s question – What type of alumni career services would be beneficial to you? – simply scroll to the bottom of this page and pick the answer of your choice. We’ll share the results in the next issue!

The votes are in! No, not for the presidential race – for the new Alumni Accent redesign! Thanks to our new template, we are now able to feature a poll question in the footer of each issue. In December, we solicited your thoughts on the Accent’s new look, and we are happy to report that 64 percent of all those who responded rated the publication Excellent or Good. The remaining 36 percent chose Okay, but I preferred the old design. Though no one chose Poor or Needs Improvement, we will continue to tweak the publication in an attempt to better serve Berry alumni. In this issue, for example, we’ve added the ability to “share” stories across various social media platforms.

Thanks to all those who participated in the December poll. We’ll share the results in the next issue!

As our regular readers will undoubtedly note, there is something different about this issue of the Alumni Accent. Just in time for the holidays, we’re excited to unveil a new design for Berry’s alumni e-newsletter.

The new template is designed to make it easier than ever for you to interact with friends and classmates at Berry. In addition to the news content you’ve come to expect, the Accent now provides a one-stop platform for those wishing to access our new online community, AlumniConnect, as well as Berry pages on social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. The newly designed email template also includes links to calendar items and other content.

News stories are now published in a separate blog accessible by clicking Alumni Accent News in your email. Headlines are also hyperlinked, allowing you to access stories individually if you prefer. Each story is accompanied by a series of “tags” that will prove useful in the future by making it possible to quickly search the Accent blog for all instances in which a particular tag has appeared.

As you browse this issue, please take a moment to register your opinion about the new design by voting in our interactive poll (located in the blog footer). If there are specific enhancements you would like to see (comments, for example, or the ability to share stories via social media), we would love to hear from you. Simply email Chris Watters (89C), alumni relations director, with your suggestions. This is your e-newsletter, after all, and we want to know what you think!
