Berry Trivia PhotoWow! Last month’s trivia question – asking readers to identify the Berry alumnus now “getting his kicks” with the Atlanta United professional soccer team – produced one of the closest results in our history, with Alyssa Nobles (12C) beating Sarah Huffman (12C) by a scant two minutes in tweeting the correct response of Mark Bloom (10C).

The subject of this month’s question (pictured at left) will be honored in July as the 2017 recipient of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s E. Burr Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award, one of six Distinguished Service Awards presented by the international organization each year. Earn a shout-out in our next issue by being the first to tweet the name of this 1961 Berry high school alumnus who recently completed his 40th year as a college president. Be sure to include the hashtag #berrycollegetrivia.

Berry MagazineThe results are in, and Berry magazine once again ranks among the best alumni publications in the Southeast according to the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). This year, Berry topped all entries from institutions with enrollments under 5,000 to win the Grand Award in nine-state District III. To celebrate, we did what we always do – put out another issue! If you haven’t received your copy, it should be hitting your mailbox soon. If you can’t wait that long, click the accompanying cover image to view the publication online.

While the creative team behind Berry magazine would love to take ALL the credit for the publication’s success, the truth is you make it easy. From Hollywood production designer Julie Walker (98C) to Silicon Valley “whiz kids” Kyle Henderson (05C) and Derek Carter (05C) to servant-leader extraordinaire Cheryl Holt Naja (78C), our alumni have amazing stories, and it’s our privilege to share them.

As you’re thumbing through the current issue, don’t forget to send us a “status update” of your own for future publication. Just email your news (with class year) to alumni@berry.edu.

Berry AwardsNational and international attention for Berry’s resident bald eagles and promotional efforts in support of the LifeReady Campaign have earned state and regional acclaim from the Georgia Education Advancement Council and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Berry received six awards in CASE District III, which encompasses colleges and universities across the Southeast, including Grand Awards (first place) in four categories. Last fall, the unprecedented media coverage and public attention generated by the bald eagles and the impressive early success of the LifeReady Campaign earned Berry the Award for Overall Institutional Excellence in Advancement from GEAC, a professional organization representing all of Georgia’s public and private colleges, universities and technical colleges.
